Hearts for Haiti - Visit 13th on the 13th
Historic Hyde Park businesses raise awareness and seek donations for Haiti during Valentines weekend.
On February 13th visit Historic Hyde Park for special sales, food, and community events as we seek to raise awareness and donations for Haiti. Each business is doing their part as a whole in an effort to relieve Haiti. What better day to show their love than on Valentines!
Becky West, director for Dunia Marketplace, a non-profit fair `trade store has longed to gather the Hyde Park businesses for a special event. Having heard of the past success of 13th on the 13th, coupled with the devastating news from Haiti, along with personal connections with two artisan groups in Haiti, it seemed like a logical time to band together for common good. The merchants and employees in Hyde Park agree and will all be doing what they can to prolong awareness for Haiti and collect donations.
Each business will have a donation bucket based on their personal connection to Haiti, some businesses will be donating percentages of the day’s sales, and offering special food items and discounts. Others will have items discounted or simply collecting for the Haitian people. And all of Hyde Park will have Haiti on their mind.
